Rain Disrupts Jagan Memorial Windball Cricket in Canje
ARTICLE:
Inclement weather disrupted play at the Cheddi Jagan Memorial Male Champions’ Trophy and Janet Jagan Memorial Female Windball Cricket inter-school tournaments during the New Amsterdam/Canje leg of the competition on Tuesday.
The matches were held at the Rose Hall Community Centre Ground in East Canje, where rain played a significant role in limiting the action on the day. Despite the weather challenges, some play was still managed before conditions forced interruptions to the schedule.
The two tournaments, named in honor of former President Cheddi Jagan and former President Janet Jagan, bring together school-aged cricketers from across Guyana in a celebration of the sport at the youth level. The New Amsterdam/Canje zone forms part of a broader regional competition structure that spans multiple districts across the country.
Officials and participants are expected to work around the weather delays as the competition continues. Further updates on rescheduled fixtures and results from the New Amsterdam/Canje zone are anticipated in the coming days.
