Impact substitute Sameer Rizvi struck an unbeaten 70 off 47 balls to guide Delhi Capitals to a six-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday.

Chasing 142, Capitals made a disastrous start, losing KL Rahul first ball before slumping to 26 for 4 inside five overs. Rizvi was introduced as an impact substitute at the fall of the second wicket and proceeded to anchor the chase alongside South Africa’s Tristan Stubbs, who contributed 39 not out.

The pair shared an unbroken 119-run partnership for the fifth wicket, guiding Capitals to victory with 17 balls to spare.

Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants were bowled out for 141, with Abdul Samad top-scoring on 36 and Mitch Marsh contributing 35. No other batter passed 14. Seamers Thangarasu Natarajan and Lungi Ngidi were the standout performers with the ball, taking 3 for 29 and 3 for 27 respectively.
