Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh announced on Monday that 13,168 Guyanese who successfully completed online registration for the government’s $100,000 cash grant will receive their payments within 24 hours, as the administration processes applications in successive batches.
The Ministry of Finance launched the online registration portal on Thursday, March 26, allowing citizens aged 18 years and older as of February 28, 2026, to register for the latest tranche of the cash disbursement programme under the People’s Progressive Party/Civic administration.
As of Monday, 26,639 persons had successfully completed the self-registration process out of more than 600,000 eligible Guyanese. A further 22,611 persons had begun the process but had not yet completed it.
“Out of the 26,639 persons who completed their self-registration successfully, I am delighted to report that we have processed payments for 13,168 persons. Those persons have already started receiving their cash grants credited to their accounts, and we anticipate that all 13,168 persons will have received their cash grants within the next 24 hours,” Singh stated.
Combined with the initial cohort of 48,858 central government employees, including public servants, teachers, and members of the disciplined services, who received payments last week, a total of 62,026 individuals will have had their grants deposited directly into their bank accounts. Total disbursements will amount to approximately $6.2 billion.
To register, applicants must provide basic personal information, a valid national identification card or Guyana passport, and bank account details. Applicants are also required to complete a facial recognition or liveness test as part of the verification process.
Singh acknowledged that heavy traffic on the portal has caused difficulties for some users and encouraged those experiencing problems to attempt access at off-peak hours.
“If you encounter perhaps heavy traffic at the initial attempt, I want to urge them perhaps to log in later at a time when the traffic might be a little bit slower, because we are seeing very heavy traffic volumes up to now,” he said.
Commercial banks facilitating online account openings for those without existing accounts include Demerara Bank Limited, Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, Republic Bank Guyana, and Scotiabank Guyana.
The government expects to transfer a total of $60 billion to over 600,000 Guyanese in this second round of distribution, mirroring the scale of the 2024 to 2025 cash grant exercise.
